  • Mental Health Substance Use Clinician (MHC)

    Position: Permanent 1.0 FTE position, reporting to the Director of PHC and Community

    Wage Range: $75,000 – $82,000
    CHC will be open: Monday – Thursday 8am to 8 pm, Friday 8am to 4pm, Saturday 8 am – noon. Rotating Days Off.

    Summary of Job Description:
    The Mental Health Clinician (MHC) utilizes advanced clinical knowledge to provide clinical practice and interventions relating to intake, assessment, crisis intervention, education, treatment, harm reduction, counselling, and referral for clients experiencing mental health, substance use, and/or concurrent disorder problems, and their caregivers/families. The MHC works collaboratively with the PHC team to plan and deliver mental health / substance use (MHSU) individual and group programs and services to meet the needs of the community, for the catchment areas of Gordon Head/Shelbourne and Oak Bay.
    Required Qualifications:
    Master’s Degree in Counselling or Social Work or health-related discipline from an approved post-secondary institution.
    Three years experience, with significant understanding of mental health and substance use issues.
    Knowledge of applicable legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and the Guardianship Act. Additional clinical competency courses in mental health and/or substance use conditions are an asset.

    The candidate must have graduated from a recognized program for Practical Nurses and have current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Professional Nurses (BCCNP).

    The candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, the ability to work effectively and respectfully with the interdisciplinary team.  The candidate must be physically and mentally able to carry out the duties of the position and have the ability to organize work and the ability to operate related equipment.

  • Registered Nurse - LTC & CHC

    Luther Court is hiring into permanent positions that provide opportunities to work both in our long term care setting and in our newly opening Community Health Centre (CHC). This is an excellent opportunity to utilize a wide arrange of nursing skills both in working with elders and in working with a broad cross-section of patients in primary health care.

    In long term care you will:

    Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate nursing care delivery in assigned areas. Perform direct resident/client care. Provide clinical services as the Most Responsible Nurse for an assigned group of residents and general oversight of all residents on any given shift. Supervise staff, schedule, and coordinate work assignments of staff. Respond to requests for nursing assessment/delegation of task in the independent and assisted living programs, as needed.

    In primary health care you will:

    Assess, triage, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care delivery within a primary health interdisciplinary team service. Be the most responsible nurse for clinical services of an assigned panel of patients and clients. Assist and support family physicians, nurse practitioners, and other allied team members in care delivery. Provide health education and outreach, carry out screening and risk assessments, and coordinate population health programs for individuals and within a community context, for the catchment areas of Gordon Head/Shelbourne and Oak Bay.

  • Maintenance Worker - Casual

    Maintenance Worker

    The Maintenance Worker adds to the quality of life of people who live at Luther Court by ensuring that the facilities and grounds are well maintained.

    According to established policies and procedures and safety practices, the maintenance worker performs a variety of general cleaning, janitorial, general grounds and building maintenance, room set-up and ordering and receiving of supplies. Basic carpentry, electrical & plumbing experience required.

    The candidate must have Grade 10, plus one year’s recent experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    Job Skills and Abilities
    1. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    2. Ability to deal with others effectively.
    3. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

    Luther Court is looking to hire into a Permanent Night position for a Level 2 LPN.  This position has the responsibility for supervision of the Health Care Assistants and other designated staff and performs nursing procedures and patient care duties for clients in accordance with the established Care Plan and in accordance with competency guidelines within the standards of practice as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM). Positions at this level supervise Health Care Assistants and other designated staff and perform nursing procedures and patient care duties for clients who have stable and predictable health status. Works in collaboration with the Registered Nurse-on-call for clients who are not stable or

    predictable.
