Role Overview:
As a Board of Directorโs member, you will play a vital role in overseeing the governance of Luther Court. Your primary responsibility will be to determine and champion the organization’s vision, mission and planning for its continued effectiveness in the community. You will collaboratively define the values that underpin our culture and guide decision-making for achieving our goals. Additionally, you will be entrusted with guiding the Society to ensure sustained service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and approve the strategic plan governing the society.
- Approve the budget and financial plans for the society.
- Monitor and manage Board risks by exercising reasonable care in all facets of organizational governance.
- Develop and assess governance policies to inform the operational plans of the management team, uphold ethical standards and further organizational objectives.
- Determine and refine the organization’s vision, mission, and values to guide strategies and services.
- Set and review organization goals, ensuring alignment with the established vision and mission.
- Uphold fiduciary duties by exercising objectivity, responsibility, honesty, trustworthiness, and efficiency in decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Professional and/or volunteer experience with programs or agencies designed to serve seniors, persons who are differently abled, health care services, palliative care, and philanthropy and community service organizations.
- The ability to collaborate and work effectively as a board member.
- Experience in working with diverse stakeholders in building positive relationships.
- A strong commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting transparency and accountability.
- A passion for supporting a quality of life for anyone accessing Luther Court programs and services.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve and make sound decisions in line with organizational objectives.
Qualified applicants will be interviewed and may be recommended for election to vacant positions on the Board at the Luther Court Society’s annual general meeting, usually held in June each year.ย Once elected to the Board, new members will be required to undergo a criminal record check.ย Board members serve a 3 year termย renewable for a second 3 year term.ย New board members will receive an orientation to the Board and to the Luther Court facilities and services.ย All Board members are volunteers and serve without remuneration.
The Society provides all Board members with Directorโs Liability Insurance.
